Hello, how are you? What’s new? Hope you are well, have a nice day. These are some of the many nice things that friends say and ask one another. While I believe that actions are louder than words, I also think that there are certain phrases that can get the job done. In this rant, I want to tell you why some words are better than others and why some friends matter more than others.
Lets start it off simple: My friends are my most valuable possession and pretty much my family. Most often, the word “friend” is used for just about anyone you meet, tweet, text or have on Facebook. But for me, you need to earn that title/label. I take that shit serious. I believe your experiences, words and your actions will determine if you will be my friend. If you do become my friend, then it’s for death do us part! Loyalty is also a big thing with me. Being loyal through the good and bad is another thing that makes a great friendship. Honesty is VERY important. I should be able to tell you what I think and feel. YOU should be able to tell me anything and everything. Together we help each other have a great life full of fun!
My closet friends mean the world to me. I’ve had some friends for over 30 years. I have some friends that unfortunately come and go. But when they do come back, it’s like NO time has gone by. These days it’s easier to stay in touch than ever before, and for that reason alone, I believe there’s no excuse to leave me hanging. When was the last time you called a friend and just said, “Hello, how are you doing?” When was the last time you said, “Is there anything I can do for you to make your day better?” When was the last time you said, “Thank you for being such a great friend…”
I don’t want to get ALL mushy with this post, but I’ve just been working all day and thinking about so many great friends I have and missing them SO much. There isn’t a day that goes by when I don’t say hello, how ya going, smile or what is up to friend of mine. I had a grrl friend once who taught me that it’s better to make a friend, smile, and feel good, than not say anything at all. So, to ALL my closest friends out there and you know who you are… Thank you, have fun, smile, behave, grow up, you smell funny, yo, shush and where’s my milkshake!!!!
